Untimely loss of Francisco Sepúlveda Teixeira

The ISR Community is mourning the profoundly sad loss of a close colleague and friend, Francisco Teixeira.

“Dear Colleagues and Friends

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our dear friend, Prof. Francisco Sepúlveda Teixeira, from the Mathematics Department of IST. Francisco was at all levels unique: an upright and kind human being, a cultured man with a passion for history, and a researcher, teacher, and science manager of recognized merit. Together with other mathematics colleagues, he was at one point the precursor of our Associate Laboratory, thus contributing to the search for the desired balance between the formal theoretical aspects underlying engineering and its practice. His multifaceted knowledge included areas such as history, and he was a curator and one of the great promoters of the City of Ammaia Foundation, caretaker of the ruins of the Romans with that name in the municipality of Marvão.

He loved what he did, and radiated sympathy and love for his family. We are witnessing an enormous loss. May the indelible memory of his too fleeting passage among us serve as a lenitive to ease the pain we feel. See you always, Xico.

Hugs

Isabel Ribeiro
António Pascoal”

The Mathematics Department has also been paying homage to the Professor and Researcher.
