I am El Khalil Cherif, PhD in coastal water, Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System and recently Master in Blue Economy from University of Trieste. I am currently a researcher at ISR in Instituto Superior Técnico and an external collaborator within department Geosciences, Environment and Spatial Planning in Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto. My research interests are focused on: Coastal Water, Remote Sensing and GIS, Climate Change, Environment Diplomacy, Blue Economy. In the last six years, I have been actively involved in research projects in the Mediterranean region in: Portugal, Spain, Slovenia, Italy, and Morocco for ocean subjects. Indeed, I have published 20 articles and papers until now (see my “Researchgate” page for more information: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Elkhalil_Cherif). I am also an active member in multiple initiatives and organizations focusing on youth empowerment and knowledge transfer across the Mediterranean and the Middle East such WESTEMD, YOURS, Union for Mediterranean and CBCGDF). I am detail oriented with excellent project management skills; I have a talent for learning languages speaking around 6 languages of countries where I worked.
