Multimedia

Learning by doing or active learning is generally accepted to be very important in the development of students cognitive abilities. Learning through the exploration of a multimedia system is an interactive process with several similarities with classical active learning. Like active learning, it depends more on the motivation, effort and research of the student than passive learning. In active learning the teacher is more a guide than a lecturer. A multimedia system can be simultaneously a lecturer and a guide, making in many cases immediate bridges to more research (for instance through the internet) and electronic mail contact with interested researchers.
